Wunderkammer was an expansive solo exhibition presenting 88 original sculptural works drawn from across Saxon Reynolds' evolving assemblage practice. Bringing together multiple bodies of work developed over several years, the exhibition transformed Wollongong Art Gallery into a contemporary cabinet of curiosities, an environment filled with imagined characters, machines, creatures and unexpected combinations of found objects.

The exhibition brought together works from series including Evolution, Pod, Relic, Miscellany, Zodiac, Sushi, and Journal alongside other individual works. Each series explores different ideas, materials and processes, while sharing an ongoing fascination with the possibilities contained within discarded, reclaimed and collected objects.

Mechanical components, antique artefacts, natural specimens, vintage materials, timber, scientific objects and fragments of everyday life were removed from their original contexts and reconstructed into new forms. Across the exhibition, the familiar became unfamiliar, the functional became imaginative, and objects carrying histories of use were given new identities and possibilities.

At its heart, Wunderkammer reflects Reynolds' fascination with collecting, making and reimagining, the impulse to preserve objects that might otherwise be overlooked and to discover unexpected relationships between them. The exhibition invited audiences to explore, question and ultimately embrace the sense of curiosity and wonder that can emerge when ordinary things are brought together in extraordinary ways.
