BIRD SERIES

The Bird Series marked a return to representational subject matter following a period of creating semi-abstract assemblages. Inspired by the elegance and character of birds, the series explores stylised form, gesture and movement, distilling familiar species into expressive sculptural compositions.

 

Created from reclaimed materials and found objects, each bird balances abstraction with recognition, capturing the essence of its subject rather than a literal likeness. During the development of the series, I also began incorporating welded steel into the sculptures, introducing new linear elements that expanded both the visual language and structural possibilities of my assemblage practice.

 

Through playful forms and carefully considered compositions, the Bird Series celebrates the beauty, individuality and quiet presence of the natural world.
