BERRY SERIES

The Berry Series marks my first exploration of abstract assemblage, shifting the focus from narrative to the visual relationships between colour, texture, form and direction. Each composition is carefully arranged within a glass cloche, transforming everyday objects into self-contained studies of balance, contrast and harmony.

 

Encased beneath glass, the works invite close observation, encouraging viewers to appreciate the beauty of ordinary materials through abstraction rather than representation.

 

The series takes its name from the historic New South Wales town of Berry, where the glass cloches were sourced, establishing a lasting connection between the place and the works themselves.

 

As an early experiment in abstraction, the Berry Series laid the foundation for the more complex assemblages that would become central to my artistic practice.
