POD SERIES

The Pod Series began during the surreal few weeks following the unexpected passing of my father. The bizarre nature of the days and weeks after the event, still seem like I was watching everything unfold from the sidelines. With such a shock to myself and my family, countless decisions to be made, and an enormous clean-up of sixty-plus years of collecting, I retreated into myself where things made more sense… I started drawing. I would sketch every night after a day of sorting through collections, antiques, tools, and all the objects and materials accumulated over a lifetime. The days passed and blurred into one another, the cleaning continued, and the sketches, ideas and designs piled up. The circular, spherical shape, began to repeat itself. From these automatic, almost subconscious, drawings and designs the Pod Series came into being. Initially they embodied aspects and characteristics of my father, later they took on independent personalities of their own. My father always said, “You could use that for something!”… The Pod Series is me, finally getting around to using some of these wonderful objects that my father couldn’t bring himself to part with.
